Soft stools after baytril

Postby dinky » Sun Jan 10, 2010 3:38 pm

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice upon this.

My group has recently been on baytril for the snuffles, now the course has finished everyone is fine - however, Rex always gets an upset tummy when on baytril - however this time I have not managed to clear it up. I have tried him on less wet food, some pro-biotic to increase his normal micro flora and a little fibre. But nothing has worked as yet. I will be taking him to the vets ASAP for a check up as it only happened after the baytril (likely to take a stool sample with me).

Other then this he is fine, and I have had a prod and poke for lumps and bumps which shouldn't be there but I can't find anything in my non-expert opinion.

Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks xx

What pro-biotic are you giving him? Some work better for some individuals than others. Usually Bio-Lapis is good, I also used norm prozorb before and that works really well as it covers all angles of gastric upset, bioplus probiotic is also good, and Potent Brew, the latter two by the Birdcareco.

I would have him checked as well, not only a stool sample because it could be coincidental and unrelated to the Baytril, so I would want a vet to have a good feel around his belly and see if they can feel any abnormalities just to be on the safe side.

Good luck!
